A Look inside Cabot Cove of Largo Assisted Living Community

Father’s Day Luncheon!

Father’s Day is a special time to celebrate all the dads. At Cabot Cove, we have the best! On Father’s Day last month, we had a special luncheon consisting of Flank Steak & Bacon wrapped Shrimp! The kitchen also whipped up Julien Potatoes & the peanut butter pie was the best! The dads all had a great time. Thank you to the family members that came out to celebrate with us!

What is a Dad?

A dad is someone who wants to
catch you before you fall but instead
picks you up, brushes you off, and
lets you try again.

A dad is someone who wants to
keep you from making mistakes but
instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in
silence when you get hurt.

A dad is someone who holds you
when you cry, scolds you when you
break the rules, shines with pride
when you succeed, and has faith in
you even when you fail.

Lunch at Cheddars!

Lunch & shopping is generally a favorite pastime for the ladies, and at Cabot Cove that is no different! Our senior residents enjoy shopping trips & lunch outings every month. This month we are going to Dollar General & The Burlington Store.  For our lunch outings we are going to Santa Fe Mexican Restaurant & Roos.

Ann & All of Her Creations!

Cabot Cove of Largo new senior residentElizabeth Erickson, who likes to be called Ann, was born in Huntington, PA in 1932. Ann had two brothers. She married Skip Erickson on a beautiful April Fools’ Day! They have two sons, Bill & Steve. Before she began her family, Ann joined the Army and was enlisted for three years.

After raising her sons, Ann worked in banks as a teller & also in a dentist office. She moved to Florida from Illinois in 1989. Ann is a wonderful addition to our Cabot Cove family! She enjoys all of the activities organized by the Activity Dept. She loves Arts & Crafts, and displays all of her creations all around her room. She is very patriotic & loves the colors red, white, & blue! And of course hot pink!

Cabot Cove Ducklings!

This will be the second hatchling this year in our courtyard! We’ve had several hatchlings over the years here at Cabot Cove. A big thank you to Sheryl & her husband Joe for rehoming them in the pond next door at the apartments.

Key Nesting Habits

Site Fidelity: Female ducks have an instinct to return to areas where they previously had successful hatchings, ensuring they already know the local food, water, and predator escape routes.

Nest Construction: Ducks rarely reuse the physical nest from the previous year because weather and predators degrade them. Instead, they build a new nest on top of the old one or choose a safe spot a few feet away within the same general territory.

Cavity Nesters: Species like wood ducks, buffleheads, and goldeneyes will reliably return to the same natural tree cavities or artificial nesting boxes every season.

Why This Matters: Because ducks are creatures of habit, this homing instinct improves their overall survival and breeding success. Community consensus and wildlife experts confirm that successive generations of the same duck family will often visit and nest in familiar backyards and creeks for many years.
